Fig Tree Pocket Home

Brief:

Renovate an old single story home into a 6 bedroom family friendly home with multiple living and entertaining areas.

Project:

Full renovation, architect design

A grand home of timeless grace and beauty, this elegant, executive residence offers expansive proportions specifically designed for family-friendly living, along with a classic, Hamptons-style feel in one of Brisbane's most desirable locales. A sweeping 3430m2 of manicured grounds forms the basis of the estate, with the impressive two level home perfectly oriented to take full advantage of the tennis court, pool and leafy, tranquil surrounds.

Completed just last year, the highly specified design offers a relaxed take on the popular design aesthetic, with a monochromatic palette, an abundance of glass and quality finishes, all of which work in with the free-flowing floor plan. Central to the layout is a great room, where the ceiling soars across two levels towards a bank of clerestory windows for real statement-making wow factor. While incorporating space for living and dining, the area also boasts that desirable indoor/outdoor lifestyle, with the alfresco living room, the outdoor dining area and the pool all seen as a natural extension of the space. The capacious kitchen makes a similarly impressive style statement, combining stone bench tops with banks of soft closing cabinetry and an array of quality European appliances. Like the rest of the home, a select group of hard-wearing finishes (such as stone and stainless steel) have been consciously utilised to ensure the whole fit out can withstand the rigours of fast-paced family life. The floor plan has also been designed to suit myriad family members, offering an additional zone in the form of a media room (or children's play room) and a study nook. Mirroring the fluid layout of the rest of the house, the media room leads out to a wide porch which provides the perfect sitting area for watching a game of tennis on the adjacent court. All the living/kitchen areas are north facing with an abundance of natural light all year round.

Upstairs, four double bedrooms in the separate children’s wing boast generous proportion, built-in wardrobes and shared use of the family bathroom. Situated at the end of the hall, a fifth, main bedroom is a true parent's retreat in every sense with an expansive ensuite (complete with freestanding bath), his and her's walk-in wardrobe's and verdant views from both the adjacent study/nursery and its private balcony. There is also a sixth bedroom and third full bathroom on the main floor along with significant storage options throughout (including in the dual car garage).
